A day at Sundays Beach Club

An elegant mixture of white sands, azure blue ocean and indulgent amenity — Sundays Beach Club conjures up a piece of paradise at the southern tip of Bali’s beautiful coastline.

Hidden away within an exclusive bay in Uluwatu, this stunning setting offers the chance to recline into a comfortable daybed, take a dip in crystal-clear water, delight in some delectable food, sip creative cocktails, before toasting moorish marshmallows as the sun sets.

As the day unfolds At Sundays, you’ll find your own slice of island heaven.

Your arrival

Before you set foot on the sparkling sands at Sundays, you will make your way through the pristine and beautiful Ungasan Clifftop Resort and discover the first hint that Sundays is a location like no other.

Tucked away amongst these botanical and tropical surrounds you’ll find a private funicular that awaits to edge you down the magnificent cliff face. The decent offers gorgeous vistas of the Indian Ocean, until a trio of thatched rooftops begin to peek out from the coconut palms, to reveal Sundays Beach Club.

Here, you’re greeted by the friendly Sundays staff, who whisk you away to your very own sun lounger by the bay. It’s advisable to get there early if you want to get the best spot as the beach operates on a first come first serve policy.

Once settled, you’ve made your lavish and enviable base for the day — where not only are you able to glare at the unrivalled views, but take advantage of the club’s exceptional facilities.

Your food and drink

Sundays Beach Club is kept to the same high standards as the six-star luxury Ungasan resort that sits above it, so the food and drink at The Ocean View Bar are both delectable and delicious.

From 9am you can get a taste of the magnificent breakfast menu from renowned Australian Chef Josh Tyler. Inspired by locally-sourced ingredients, there are plenty of healthy takes on classics, including Porridge of Seeds and Grains, and refreshing smoothie bowls. There’s also the filling Breakfast Bowl, consisting of fried eggs, red rice, perfectly cured salmon, kimchi, avocado, beetroot jam, and goats cheese — it’s a Sundays morning favourite.

Perfectly baking bread on Bali is a seemingly impossible task due to the country’s high humidity, but chef Tyler has used his years of experience to create loaves that are crunchy on the outside but succulently soft on the inside. So, for breakfast, the eggs on toast or the wood-fired brioche have become a highly sought-after delight.

For the rest of the day, there’s a gluttony of choices on the menu, from expertly seared seafood, wonderful wood-smoked pizzas, chilled salads and perfect poke bowls, brilliant burgers and luscious local favourites, including Javanese chicken and seafood nasi goreng. Dine at the circular bar or in the comfort of your own daybed as you watch the waves crash into the bay and survey the magnificent mix of people that descend on this joyful location.

When you need to quench your thirst, Sundays’ mixologists are on hand to whip up some of the island’s tastiest cocktails, whether it’s a sweet bellini or mimosa with breakfast, or any of the 31 signature, classic and spritz cocktails that make up the comprehensive drinks menu. There are also an array of specially imported wines from Europe, South America, America and Australia to sample, as well as a choice of bubbles to mark this special occasion.

Your VIP experience

Sundays Beach Club’s enclosed setting makes every experience feel like a private one. However, with a dedicated butler, beachfront location, allocated daybeds, private bathroom and shower, the Private Beach Bungalows at Sundays really is on another level.

Able to accommodate up to eight guests and slightly elevated to reveal stunning vistas of the Indian Ocean, the luxurious Beach Bungalows are a special way to enjoy your day. Arrive to a glass of complimentary Chandon poured by your private butler before you toast to the sun-drenched hours that lie ahead. After you’ve lazed in the sun, enjoyed the private beach access, made use of the complimentary kayaks, paddle-boards, fins, and snorkelling gear, at 6pm your butler will escort you to one of the dedicated beach areas to enjoy the nightly bonfires.

As the sun sets to reveal cosmic constellations, your Private Beach Bungalow can be transformed into an elegant dining area. Whether you’re after a romantic dinner for two or hosting a private canape party of 20 people, Chef Tyler’s menu has something for everyone. With a continued butler service within your own intimate setting, any occasion in the Sundays bungalows is a memorable one.

This exclusivity extends to Sundays Beach Spa — six-star pampering cabanas overlooking the ocean are where you can treat yourself to fabulous massages, body scrubs and healing foot reflexology while the sea breeze transports you to a state of ultimate nirvana.

Your evening

Come sundown, Sundays is just getting started. The stand-out feature during Bali’s most beautiful time of day at this gorgeous location is the scattering of beachfront bonfires that illuminates the enveloping purple-coloured sky. It’s an idyllic setting for roasting a marshmallow over the hot embers, making use of Sundays’ happy hour, or popping a glass of sparkling and gazing out to the moonlit waters.

Sundays isn’t always about relaxed campfires and blissfully comfortable beanbags. Internationally renowned DJs often take over the music long into the night — a truly unique nightclub experience to cap off an incredible day by the ocean.
