Nusa Dua Day Trip: What to Do There

Nusa Dua is a relaxing, scenic, and well-maintained destination that’s ideal for families, couples, and travellers who want a peaceful break from some of Bali’s busier beach towns.

Where Is Nusa Dua, and Why Visit?

Nusa Dua is a luxurious, relaxed, and upscale tourism complex on Bali’s southeastern coast. Known for pristine white-sand beaches and calm waters, it’s a wonderful place to unwind. And, with a family-friendly vibe, paved walking paths, and easy access from an array of nearby destinations such as Tanjung Benoa, Jimbaran, and Uluwatu, it’s an excellent day trip destination, too.

Getting to Nusa Dua from The Ungasan, Uluwatu

Nusa Dua is just a 20–30 minute drive from The Ungasan. The journey takes you along smooth, scenic roads through Ungasan and Jimbaran before reaching the gated Nusa Dua tourism complex.

Transport Options for a Nusa Dua Day Trip

Private drivers offer flexibility, and you can expect to pay between IDR 500,000 and IDR 700,000 per day.

For cheaper one-way trips, you can use apps such as Grab or GoJek. However, it’s worth noting that pickup availability can be limited in some beach areas.

Or, for a hassle-free experience, the Ungasan concierge can organise a hotel transfer for you.

Pro tip: To get the most out of your Nusa Dua day trip, depart by 8–9 AM to enjoy the beaches and resort facilities before the crowds.

What to Do in Nusa Dua

Whether you’re travelling solo, want a romantic day, or are looking for ways to entertain the family, there’s plenty to do on a day trip to Nusa Dua.

Relax at Geger Beach

Calm water and soft sand make this beach ideal for swimming, sunbathing, and family fun. Although it can be popular, it’s less crowded than some of Bali’s more tourist-heavy beaches.

You can hire loungers and chairs on the North end of the beach, as well as umbrellas and shaded loungers in other parts. There are also several relaxed cafes and eateries near the beach, including Geger Beach Café, Nusa Dua Beach Grill, and Fleet Bar & Café.

Visit the Water Blow Site

Just a 12-minute drive from Geger Beach, the Water Blow Site is a dramatic natural rock formation that funnels waves from the Indian Ocean, creating explosive 10-15 metre-high sea spray.

The best time to visit is around mid to high tide. This is a free attraction in Nusa Dua, but parking fees may apply.

Safety tips: Stick to the designated viewing platforms and don’t climb the rocks. The ground can be slippery, so wear sturdy shoes and be prepared to get wet!

Stroll Along the Nusa Dua Promenade

This paved 7-kilometre coastal walkway winds through Nusa Dua’s manicured gardens, beaches, and art installations. With breathtaking views and a relaxed atmosphere, it’s an excellent option for leisurely bike rides, romantic strolls, or active family-friendly outings.

You’ll find plenty of shaded rest spots along the way as well as cafes, beach bars, and restaurants. You can walk it all in one go or take your time and stop at beaches like Geger, Nusa Dua, Mengiat, Sawangan, and Pandawa Beach along the way.

Pro tip: If you’re planning on walking the whole promenade, aim for early morning or late afternoon so you can enjoy some cooler weather.

Explore Bali Collection (Shopping & Dining)

Bali Collection is an open-air shopping complex with shaded walkways, beautiful landscaping, and Balinese-inspired architecture. Here you’ll find everything from souvenirs, handicrafts, and jewellery to popular international stores like Levi’s, Billabong, and Ralph Lauren.

There are also plenty of lunch spots and dessert bars, including Cocos Cafe, Bebek Tepi Sawah, Dua Kafe, and Cold Stone Creamery, along with spas like Revive, Sadali, and Heavenly Spa by Westin, where you can treat yourself to some pampering.
